About this course
This Level 5 course in Aerospace Engineering is designed to deepen students’ understanding of key aerospace concepts while introducing advanced topics critical to the development and operation of modern aircraft and spacecraft.
Students will explore areas such as:
1. Aerodynamics – Advanced airflow analysis over aircraft surfaces, including compressible and incompressible flow dynamics.
2. Aircraft Structures and Materials – Study of lightweight, high-strength materials used in aerospace applications and analysis of stress, strain, and structural integrity.
3. Propulsion Systems – Detailed examination of jet and rocket engines, thermodynamics, and propulsion system design.
4. Flight Mechanics and Stability – Investigation of aircraft performance, stability, and control in various flight conditions.
5. Avionics and Aircraft Systems – Introduction to onboard systems including navigation, communication, and electronic control systems.
6. Engineering Mathematics and Simulation – Application of mathematical models, computational tools, and software (e.g., MATLAB, CAD) to solve engineering problems.
Graduates of this course typically progress to:
1. Level 6 (Bachelor’s degree) in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering
2. Entry-level roles in aerospace design, testing, manufacturing, or systems engineering
3. Apprenticeships or trainee engineering positions in the aviation or defense industries
Program Details
Mode of Study:
Spend two years at IIAE Dehradun in the IHD program in Aerospace Engineering. After successfully completing the qualification, students are eligible for lateral entry into the 3rd or 4th year at a foreign university (UK, USA, Canada, Australia etc.) depending on their requirements. This pathway course enables students to achieve a Bachelor's/Undergraduate degree abroad, including work placements and internships
Eligibility:
Students appearing for or who have passed 10+2 with PCM from ICSE/CBSE/IGCSE/IB/State Board. Students with a Diploma in Engineering with at least 50% marks. Students who haven't taken Mathematics in their science stream can also apply, provided they clear Mathematics through NIOS intermediary.
